Vice President Seeks to Reassure Federal Workers
“We’re going to figure this thing out”
On Friday, Vice President Mike Pence promised government employees who are currently working without pay due to the partial shutdown, that “we’re going to figure this thing out.”
He was at the headquarters of the Border Patrol in Washington, but addressed all federal employees. He praised the Border Patrol and others for their commitment to their jobs, as the shutdown now becomes the longest in history. Friday was the first day that many government workers affected by the impasse were not receiving paychecks.
“Thank you for staying focused on this mission, even in trying times,” the vice president said. “Focus on the mission. I want to assure you that we’re going to figure this thing out.” He promised the workers they would receive their pay eventually.
- For the federal workers who continue to stay on the job even though they have not received their paycheck.
That President Trump and members of Congress would find the compromise that would reopen the government.
