U.S. Troops to Remain at Border Through New Year
Secretary of Defense extends deployment
On Monday the Department of Defense announced that the U.S. troops that had been deployed to the Southern Border would have their mission extended into 2019. Originally slated to be completed on December 15, the mission was lengthened after migrants from Central America attempted to enter the U.S.
Pentagon Spokesman Jamie Davis said of the extension, “The Secretary of Defense has approved an extension of the ongoing Department of Defense support to the Department of Homeland Security response to migrant caravan arrivals.” It is expected that there will be a slight reduction in force from 5400 to 4000 troops during the extension. Orders will include adding barbed wire and barrier repair.
- For Secretary Mattis to have wisdom on how to direct the Defense Department.
- For President Trump to be used by God to help bring a safe conclusion to the current border situation.
- For the DoD to aid DHS effectively.
