Russia President Putin Responds to U.S. Claims of Non-Compliance
After Secretary Pompeo and NATO action
Russian’s President Vladimir Putin says they are ready for a new nuclear arms race with the United States after the Trump Administration said it would abandon the arms treaty due to noncompliance by Russia.
Earlier this week, Secretary Mike Pompeo at the NATO foreign ministers summit in Brussels said that the U.S. would leave the Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces (INF) treaty within 60 days if Russia did not come back into compliance.
President Putin said the Trump Administration’s move shows that the U.S. “has to have these weapons,” adding that Russia’s response is, “We will do the same.”
Secretary Pompeo said “There is complete unity around this. We believe this is the right outcome.”
