President Will Attend UN Climate Summit
Plans to speak on U.S. fossil fuel production
The United Nations Summit on Climate will be held next month in Poland, and President Trump is planning to attend. According to the White House, he is planning to speak on U.S. fossil fuel production while there.
A book of rules in support of the Paris Climate Accord will be a large part of the intended program. But President Trump will be using his platform to illustrate the importance of pushing cleaner forms of fossil fuels.
Proponents of U.S. coal and natural gas will dominate the panel, which will also likely feature a U.S. Energy Department representative. However, there are no present plans to include a representative for the green energy sector.
The United States will not be able to leave the Paris Climate Accord until shortly after the 2020 presidential election, according to UN rules.
- For President Trump, Energy Secretary Perry, and others who will be formulating the presentations on the benefits of U.S. clean coal and natural gas.
- For the bureaucrats who are working on the development of the Paris Accord rulebook.
