Celebrates his 72nd Birthday
“Excitement is in the air,” President Trump tweeted earlier this week. While his message was more about meeting with the North Korean leader, it might just as well have been about his turning 72 on Thursday.
Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Long surprised President Trump with a birthday cake during their luncheon on Monday, a day ahead of the beginning of the historic summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
Lee welcomed President Trump for a one-on-one meeting at the Istana Palace and invited the president to return to the island nation on an official visit in November, which the president accepted. The prime minister then hosted President Trump and the American delegation for lunch, with a menu including lobster bisque, beef tenderloin, and ice cream.
He then presented President Trump with a birthday cake, decorated with fresh fruit, and the Singaporean foreign minister tweeted, “Celebrating birthday, a bit early,” as President Trump blew out the cake’s single candle.
