On international security, economic good, and democratic values
Vice President Mike Pence is attending the 8th Summit of the Americas in Lima, Peru this week. He will continue to attend meetings and speak with leaders of the Americas throughout the summit. At the first plenary session, the vice president spoke in front of all the leaders of the Americas. Vice President Pence first thanked all of those in attendance and affirmed the United States’ dedication to partnering with each nation.
The vice president’s speech covered the administration’s commitment to shared international security, economic good, and democratic values of the Americas. The speech included notes on the modernization of the North American Free Trade Agreement between the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. Vice President Pence also announced the United States’ bid to host the 9th Summit of the Americas in 2021.
