Discusses mutual interests between U.S. and each nation

At the 8th Summit of the Americas in Lima, Peru, Vice President Mike Pence has a full schedule of meetings. Vice President Pence’s participation in these meetings is vital to strengthening the administration and the United States’ dedication to leaders of the Americas. So far the vice president has met with: 

  • President Martín Vizcarra of Peru- the pair discussed weapon attacks in Syria, mutual commitment to deterring future terrorism, and maintaining the U.S.-Peru relationship
  • President Enrique Peña Nieto of Mexico- the pair discussed their cooperation in the NAFTA agreement, Venezuelan security, and immigration
  • Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada- the pair discussed the NAFTA agreement, America’s response to weapons in Syria, security, and democracy in the Americas
  • President Sebastian Piñera of Chile- the pair discussed trade and security efforts in Syria and Venezuela
  • President Juan Manuel Santos of Colombia- the pair discussed the friendship and partnership between the U.S. and Colombia, drug trafficking, and security efforts in Venezuela and Syria
