Coronavirus Task Force Briefing for Saturday, April 4th

The president and experts say that the upcoming week will be the toughest one yet.

On Saturday, President Donald Trump and members of the White House Coronavirus Task Force briefed the nation on the efforts of the administration. Speaking of the upcoming week, the president said that he expects it to be “one of the toughest weeks” as the number of confirmed cases continues to rise. During this time, the president called on media outlets to focus on facts and accurate reporting instead of feeding fear. He voiced concern that this misinformation is creating panic and causing both individuals and state governments to horde or over-request supplies. At this time, the federal government is evaluating each state’s needs and working to provide only what is necessary in order to adequately distribute supplies in proportion to the outbreak. He said that, if the government overestimated a need in any one state, it would mean that supplies would not be available for the needs of other states.

Additionally, the president said that the U.S. military will be sending another 1,000 personnel to New York, the current epicenter of the outbreak in the nation. The personnel includes doctors, nurses, respiratory experts, and others.

The president took the time to give an update on the progress of treatment techniques and vaccine research. He said that great strides were being made, but a lot of work was still ahead.

Dr. Anthony Fauci reinforced the importance of social distancing, “Viruses transmit from people to people. When people are separated from each other the virus does not transmit — it doesn’t go anywhere and that’s the reason why something as simple as the physical separation … that’s our most important tool.” Dr. Fauci added, “but this is what we have to do. As sobering and as difficult as this is, what we are doing is making a difference, so we really need to continue to do that.”

Dr. Deborah Birx, director of the task force continued by saying, “The next two weeks are extraordinarily important. This is the moment to not be going to the grocery store, not going to the pharmacy, but doing everything you can to keep your family and your friends safe and that means everybody doing the six-feet distancing, washing their hands.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For God to be at work through the president, vice president, and other members of the Coronavirus Task Force.
  • For healing for all who are sick and for God to protect all who are helping to save lives and care for the vulnerable.
