The Senate is preparing for difficult work on immigration reform in the coming days. Monday evening the chamber will begin debates and many Senators are expecting the issue to take a lot of effort. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is going to use a House bill as the base and let the Senate hash out the details in the open. He hopes that this will create a level playing field. Senator Jeff Flake said to reporters, “Face it, for years we haven’t started a process where we don’t know where it’s going. ... So it is significant that he’s willing to actually put a shell, a neutral shell, on the floor and have the process work itself out.”
Some predict that the open debate will go on for over a week. With so many challenges to overcome, prayer is needed for every member of the senate.
