Defense Secretary James Mattis announced on Thursday that the Pentagon is setting a new policy to fight violence, bullying, harassment, stereotyping, and discrimination in the military. The new policy is designed to promote a safe environment inside the military and protect servicemen and women. The new guidelines will introduce an accountability system within each branch of the military and make it easier for victims to report harassment.
Each facet of the Department of Defense will have 60 days to respond to the guidelines with a plan of action to implement and enforce the policy. Regarding the new policy, Defense Secretary James Mattis reports, “I don’t want to lose all sense of humor in the military, but I have never seen an ounce of belief in the military that you can denigrate someone.
