The celebration of the 70th anniversary of the modern state of Israel began last night at sundown.
On Friday it was announced that the Supreme Court justices would review a gerrymandering case in Texas, and the justices have ruled that a hearing will be scheduled. At the hearing, arguments will be presented as to whether or not the congressional map of Texas should be redrawn due to gerrymandering.
A lower court ruled that Texas should redraw congressional lines, and the case has been escalated to the Supreme Court. The previous ruling found that the districts violated both the Constitution and the Voting Rights Act and ordered a redrawing of congressional lines. The case is not unique in that the Supreme Court will be hearing similar cases regarding gerrymandering in both Maryland and North Carolina as well.
