Hawaii has announced that it will begin monthly testing of its Attack Warning Tone which serves as a nuclear attack warning system. The alert system was last sounded in the mid-1990s at the end of the Cold War and has only been tested a handful of times. It was designed warn Hawaii residents of impending danger. Hawaii’s Emergency Management Agency has released videos instructing Hawaiian residents on how to respond in case of a nuclear attack. Though a nuclear attack is unlikely according to state officials, the government wants to prepare and keep residents of Hawaii safe in the event of a nuclear attack.
