I’ve been a member of The Presidential Prayer Team since shortly after 9/11. In the years since the attack on our country I have appreciated the guidance and the information PPT has so willingly shared as a reminder that our country and our leaders are in constant need of prayer.
Just recently I had a reminder of why prayer is so important, not only for our nation and our elected leaders, but also for the young men and women who serve in our military.
I had the opportunity to meet Ben Dolby, a young soldier who’d been injured in a car bomb in Iraq. His family has endured a number of financial and emotional hardships as a direct result of his service to our country. As I listened to their story, tears gathered in my eyes at the courage of this patriotic family. If anyone deserves our prayers and our gratitude, it’s Ben and his wife, Delores.
As I prayed for this family, I was reminded of all the families I knew nothing about. How easy it has been for me to take them and all they do for granted. How grateful I am for the reminders to pray, to uphold our country’s leaders, whether I agree with them politically or not, that reach me through the PPT.
We are a country founded on Biblical principles. We serve the living God who listens to the prayers of His people. I thank God for The Presidential Prayer Team and the fact that PPT calls upon me as a Christian to pray, to remember who I am praying for, and why. That is one of the many reason why my husband and I financially support PPT.
In addition to prayer, God has asked us to be good stewards, to share with others what He has so generously given us. I cannot think of a single time when we have written a check that will in some small way further His kingdom, that we haven’t been blessed in one way or another. If ever there was a time when our country needed God’s grace, it is now.
